Outpatient Counseling

Empowering Individuals to Achieve Mental Wellness

Bootheel Behavioral Health offers individual, family, couple, and group counseling to address a variety of concerns including anxiety, grief and loss, relationship, behavioral problems, stress, and anger management,among others. Our goal is for anyone seeking therapy services at our office to provide mental health support while allowing them to fully function at work, home, school or anywhere in their everyday lives.

Our highly trained staff utilize evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Motivational Interviewing. School Based Therapy in Southeast Missouri

Bootheel Behavioral Health has formal agreements with many school districts to provide on-site therapy for students within the district. This innovative approach allows us to provide rapid access to therapy for students with a collaborative team approach involving the students, parents, teachers and mental health clinicians. Integration helps to eliminate barriers to care and has been proven to provide better outcomes for students.

Psychiatric Medical Services

Comprehensive Services Tailored to Your Needs

At Bootheel Behavioral Health, we offer a variety of medical services provided by Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Medical Doctors who have extensive training in treating persons needing mental health support.

Medication Management

Medication services are provided to consumers who need psychotropic medication monitoring .These services are offered by psychiatrists and advanced practice registered nurses to provide specialized medication services to ease the symptoms associated with mental illness.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based practice that combines pharmacological interventions with substance use disorder counseling and social support. The use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, which is effective in the treatment of opioid use disorders (OUD), and can help some people to sustain recovery.

Health Care Home

Comprehensive Care Management

Our Health Care Home program is an innovative approach to healthcare. We look at the “whole person” to improve physical health as well as a consumer’s wellness knowledge by providing comprehensive care management. This delivery of health care services promotes better patient experiences and more effective results than traditional care. Health Care Home has many characteristics of patient-centered medical home care and is customized to meet the specific needs of low-income patients with chronic conditions. The overall goal is to assist our patients in creating healthy lifestyles encouraging self-management of chronic conditions and assisting with the coordination of available healthcare resources needed for everyone.

The Health Care Home team includes a Healthcare Home Coordinator, Physician Consultant, Nurse Care Managers and Clerical Support. This team works closely with primary care services, psychiatric providers, therapists, community support professionals, hospitals, pharmacies and other agencies in order to provide a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program

Skill Development Assistance

Bootheel Behavioral Health’s Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (CPRP) is designed around community support. The program focuses on helping consumers and their families with skill development, utilizing local resources and learning to manage symptoms so hospitalizations can be prevented or reduced. Services of this program include psychiatric evaluation, assessment, medication management, in-home case management, peer and family support and crisis intervention for eligible adults.

In this program, consumers learn daily living skills that include learning how to manage symptoms, daily life skills, social skills and how to manage living an independent, self-sufficient lifestyle.

Community caseworkers work in a variety of settings including the client’s home, community locations and office locations.

Day Treatment Services

Our Psychosocial Rehabilitation Day Treatment service is eligible through the CPRP program. It is designed to enhance members’ abilities to have self-sufficient lives. Benefits include resources, interpersonal skills training, independent living skills, vocationally oriented day treatment and recreational programs. Members participate in managing and daily operation of the Day Treatment Services.

Co-Occurring Disorders

Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders (ITCD) services are available for individuals with a dual diagnosis of drug or alcohol addiction and a serious mental illness. This integrated treatment plan addresses both illnesses at the same time in one setting. Treatment providers are trained to offer comprehensive, unlimited group and individual therapy time, groups education and family support.

Substance Use Services

Our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) therapy program is provided on face-to-face basis by a licensed/credentialed counselor to resolve problems related to substance use. Every treatment program is designed to meet the individuals’ needs which may include individual and/or group counseling.

Outreach Services in Southeast Missouri

Breaking Barriers, Building Hope Together

Veterans Services

Services are offered to armed forces members or veterans who are experiencing a behavioral health need.A dedicated veterans liaison will assist qualified individuals with VA and other services, while assessing and identifying their specific individualized needs.

Community Behavioral Health Liaison
Program (CBHL)

This program was established under the Strengthening Missouri’s Mental Health Initiative in 2013 by the Department of Mental Health. The goal is to form better community partnerships with crisis systems, law enforcement and court systems to better utilize existing resources and improve access to behavioral health care.

Emergency Room Enhancement (ERE)

This program offers a rapid response to those presenting at emergency rooms for behavioral health intervention. The primary goal is to prevent repeated visits to the emergency departments and unnecessary hospitalizations, while decreasing homelessness and law enforcement involvement.

Disease Management Project / DM 3700

The Disease Management Project targets high-cost Medicaid recipients who have severe mental illness (SMI) and impactable chronic medical conditions. It is a program designed by theDepartment of Mental Health (DMH) and the MO HealthNet Division (MHD). It is typically referenced as DM 3700 because that was the target number of individuals in the first cohort. Individuals are identified by the Department of Mental Health and Bootheel Behavioral Health reaches out to individuals to link them to the appropriate mental health services. These services and interventions have reduced costs to the state for providing care and treatment and have greatly improved outcomes for the identified clients.

Peer Support

Navigating Life’s Challenges Together

Peer Support

At Bootheel Behavioral Health, we offer Peer Support Services for families and caregivers. Peer support services help relations between consumers and Certified Peer Specialists to promote respect and trust and empowering individuals to make changes and decisions to enhance their lives. Peer Specialists are persons with lived experience who work directly with individuals to direct their own recovery and learn how to advocate and guide the recovery process by promoting skills for coping and managing symptoms while encouraging the use of natural supports and enhancement of community living skills.

Family Support

This family-centered program focuses on resiliency. Family Support Providers (FSPs) have lived experience and assist the parents and caregivers of children with serious emotional disorders. They work with families to promote coping skills, managing symptoms, encouraging natural supports and model advocacy skills.

Community Education and Trainings

Did you know that we offer all kinds of trainings and education to our community? Bootheel Behavioral Health provides several training opportunities on topics such as, but not limited to, Mental Health First Aid, QPR, Suicide Prevention, Stress Management, Trauma Focused, Resiliency, Depression and Anxiety. We can provide tailorized or evidence-based training sessions that best fit your needs.

Community Crisis Response

Bootheel Behavioral Health is there when the unfortunate happens, we can provide supportive counseling and assistance with provision of services. This includes, but is not limited to police, EMS, fire response, workplace environments, schools or community groups that have experienced trauma.

Employee Assistance Programs

This service is available to interested employers to promote positive mental health. Bootheel Behavioral Health will work specifically with your human resources department to develop a program to meet the specific needs of each business and their employees.
