About Bootheel Behavioral Health
Bootheel Behavioral Health, formerly Bootheel Counseling Services (BCS), began serving southeast Missouri in 1976 as Tri-County Counseling Center. In 1982, the center was renamed Bootheel Mental Health; and in 1991, Bootheel Mental Health became Bootheel Counseling Services; and in 2024, BCS rebranded to Bootheel Behavioral Health to fully represent our scope of services.

From opening our doors almost 50 years ago, Bootheel Behavioral Health has grown from a staff of three to a staff of nearly 150 employees. Services provided have also expanded from basic counseling services to a variety of different programs and services.
As the State of Missouri’s Administrative Agent for behavioral health services in Mississippi, New Madrid, Scott, and Stoddard Counties, Bootheel Behavioral Health provides outpatient behavioral health services for adults and children.

Strengthening Mental Health Initiative
Bootheel Behavioral Health is also part of the Missouri Coalition’s Strengthening Mental Health Initiative with the Community Mental Health Liaison program. This program works to assist law enforcement and courts across the state to improve outcomes for individuals with behavioral health issues. As of January 2022, we became a Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization.
